TRIUMPHALIST--YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT?

TRIUMPHALIST--YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT? I believe that the Catholic Church was founded by Christ, on his Apostles, especially Peter, the first Pope. I believe in the teachings of the Ecumenical councils, I revere the Fathers of the Church, and I am an unapologetic Ultramontane Catholic. If you don't like it, too bad.

Well, It's Darned Sad, Is What it Is.

So His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI Left Rome this morning, at about 10:45 or so our local time.  I don't know what to say.  I can't explain what Benedict has done for me, or the effect he has had on me, other than to state he made it much easier for me to return to the Church.

I hope he has great peace in his withdrawal,  and perhaps even produces another book or two before he dies and goes to heaven.  His books on Jesus of Nazareth, and the Spirit of the Liturgy are some of the best things I have ever read.  If you haven't read them, you owe it to yourself to do so.  Challenging reading, yes, but Oh So Worth It!

There is a Novena to be said for the election of a new Pope, you can find it at the link, and there's a PDF version one can down load.  I"m going to go out on a limb and say the site that put it up wants in spread far and wide, and copy it here.

Veni Creator Spiritus
Come, Holy Ghost, Creator, come. From thy bright heavenly throne! Come, take possession of our souls. And make them all Thine Own!
Thou who art called the Paraclete, Best gift of God above, The Living Spring, The Living Fire, Sweet Unction, and True Love!
Thou who are sevenfold in Thy grace, Finger of God’s right hand,
His Promise, teaching little ones
To speak and understand!
O guide our minds with thy blest light, With love our hearts inflame, And with thy strength, which ne’er decays, Confirm our mortal frame.
Far from us drive our hellish foe, True peace unto us bring, And through all perils guide us safe Beneath thy sacred wing.
Through Thee may we the Father know, Through Thee the Eternal Son, And Thee the Spirit of them both Thrice blessed Three in One.
Now to the Father, and the Son Who rose from death, be glory given, With Thee, O holy Comforter, Henceforth by all in earth and heaven. Amen.
V/ Send forth Thy Spirit, and they shall be created:
R/ An Thou shalt renew the face of the earth.
The collect of the Missal for the election of a Pope
O Lord, with suppliant humility, we entreat Thee, that in Thy boundless mercy Thou wouldst grant the most holy Roman Church a pontiff, who by his zeal for us, may be pleasing to Thee, and by his good government may ever be honoured by Thy people for the glory of Thy name. Through Our Lord Jesus Christ.
V/ Most Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary,
R/ pray for us who have recourse to Thee!
V/ Saint Pie V.
R/ pray for us.
V/ Saint Pie X.
R/ pray for us.

I am saddened by these events, yet I will also embrace Hope.  I will embrace hope through an act of will.  And when we receive a new Pontiff, a new Pope, I will give thanks.  I'm going to try very hard to pray in such a way that I implore Our Heavenly Father that his will prevail, and the Cardinals be open to the Holy Spirit and elect the Pope in accordance with His will, and not the transient ideas of the moment.

I also will pray that we get the Pope we need, and not the one we deserve.

100% with you. Thank you for the Novena, and please carry on with your excellent blog. It's one of the wisest.

God bless!

Hope isn't believing it's all going to work out fine, it's knowing you're going to be fine no matter how it works out.

That isn't original. A friend of mine came up with it.
