TRIUMPHALIST--YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT?

TRIUMPHALIST--YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT? I believe that the Catholic Church was founded by Christ, on his Apostles, especially Peter, the first Pope. I believe in the teachings of the Ecumenical councils, I revere the Fathers of the Church, and I am an unapologetic Ultramontane Catholic. If you don't like it, too bad.

Gee, There's a Lot Going On

We Are Not a Free Nation:  Our freedom of speech is about gone.  Seriously, George Carlin had it right, when he said if it could be suspended or infringed, it wasn't a right, it was a temporary privilege.   Consider just three things:  Sixty two percent of universities have speech codes that infringe on the right to freedom of speech.  Universities are not nurseries, they are mostly attended by those who have reached the age of majority.  Yet they feel they have the right to restrict their students, faculty members, staff and visitors right to speak their mind.  So on most campuses in America, speaking out isn't a right it's a privilege, and a privilege extended only to those who agree with the writers of the codes.  With the current gun control push--a push opposed by a great many people on constitutional grounds--we see again the idea tht our rights are not ours, they are subject to the whim of the Regime and can be taken from us without Constitutional amendment or action.  And this itself reflects back to free speech.  In Arizona, a high school student was suspended for the background on his computer--an American flag with a gun.  It was declared "offensive".  So the school has, in effect, ruled that speech or expression (and in American law, graphic representations are considered speech!) on political topics which do not toe the line the school administration (unelected public employees with no constitution brief for political power) sets up is forbidden--freedom of speech is a temporary privilege extended, again, only to those in agreement with the powerful.

I'm not even going to say much about the seven year old boy in Colorado who faces suspension for tossing an imaginary grenade while playing army at school.  It will suffice to point out that the school has a zero tolerance rule concerning weapons real, toy or imaginary.  The school feels it has the right to regulate the imaginations of children.

Shades of 1984!

What puts a knot in my shorts over the "zero tolerance" mindset regarding kids and guns is how it impacts the highly impressionable minds of the young. They're being conditioned to live under highly oppressive regimens with no option to fight back. You can bet for every story making the news there are at least three where little Johnny and his clueless but well meaning parents just STFU and meekly accept the punishment for thought crime. The lessons learned will be passed on in later years and a growing number of coming generations will be two legged sheep. I saw a lot of this in my last years in the Navy, the mindset of "go along to get along" was prevalent to a ridiculous degree among the senior enlisted. Back in my salad days it was that group you could always count on to act as khaki clad shit shields against the idiocy of THOSE IN CHARGE. But that changed as men who should have known their jobs entailed a lot of strife and contention opted out for the title of "Miss Congeniality". It isn't getting better, only worse and the stories you reference point out why, it starts early and continues on throughout the lives of our kids. Those of us "of a certain age" will soon be nothing more than dinosaurs waiting for extinction.

See you at the Chestnut Tree Cafe.
