Obviously, the news from the Vatican is on my mind. Just as obviously, I haven't been doing very much today but haunting the 'Net reading about it.
The Conspiracy Theorists are already active, with their implausible and laughable ideas about what's going on.
So, Let's join the fun, shall we? I"ll posit my conspiracy theory, and y'all put yours in the comm box.
Obviously, what has happened is this: Vladimir Putin cut a deal with Femen and Pu**y Riot to get the Pope to resign if they'll just leave him out of if it. He had the support of the Anti-Catholic factions with in the Russian Orthodox Church, who worked through their contacts in the Serbian Boy Scouts to doctor His Holiness' food to make him feel bad. They actually are working, however, with American Scientologists who have been suborned by the Leadership Council of Women Religious, under direct orders from the Feminist Mafia Group of Winnipeg, who are trying to maintain funding of pro-gay abortion rights groups through the Catholic Campaign for Human Development on behalf of the Peoples Republic of China.

I think the Pope is resigning because of what he stated -- concerns about his physical health. I haven't heard of any conspiracy theories that sound believable.
