Well, my problem is a basic lack of structure. It impacts the blog adversely, because I'm not being real discrimination about what I'm reading and noticing in the world around me. This "holistic" type of situational awareness leads to a feeling of being overwhelmed by so many senseless current events it's not funny. I think I need a preached retreat or a good parish mission, one aimed at helping me reestablish my priorities in a time of poly-valent crisis.
The ups shot is it results in blog posts like this: Rambling, general rants occasioned by more stupid stuff than one can shake a stick at! I've been told it's not that things are so messed up, but the the 'Net lets us be aware of more of them. Balderdash! We are approaching a density of foolishness and stupidity that exceeds the theoretical limit of idiocy, unless one posits the imminent dissolution of our culture.
We live in a time and place where a non-issue, such as a complement to a beautiful woman can become a cause of cringing and apologies by a sports network, yet a mayor can decide he's competent to tell us what size of soft drink to buy and that we're just going to have to suffer without adequate stocks of pain meds--with no training in nutrition or medicine. We live in a time and place where a lawyer can call a judge a "black robed bigot" and a 'Catholic Knight Witch Hunter" in legal documents, and deny any wrong doing--and have people agree with her.
While our President contemplates using an executive fiat to nullify the Second Amendment we are getting more rational objections voiced by Pravda and deceased Soviet Dissidents, with survivors of Nazi and other tyrannies crying warning, with the Progressive Elitists, such as Salon.com actually acknowledge the Third Reich's targeting of groups marked for elimination in Arms Confiscation, and praising the program itself. When Piers Morgan can be considered to have "won the debate" by countering factual data and tight reasoning by calling his opponent a "...stupid stupid man..." , never addressing the facts or reasoning. Newspapers publish columns advocating deadly violence against the NRA, because they are so opposed to gun violence. Reason has died in America, and the purges and camps can't be far behind.
Then there is the question of Religious Liberty, which is inseparable from the question of Religious Bigotry. When a major paper like the Washington-Post can turn a story about a football game in to an anti-Catholic screed, and there is a petition before the White House to label the Catholic Church a hate group, one can't ignore the bigotry. I"m not going to get into the HHS mandate to cover abortions and contraception--we've all heard about it, we all know it's impact on the right to Free Exercise of Religion, but it just stands out to me that most of the animus directed against Catholics is based not in ideas of theology, but in sexual license. There are a lot of people out there who seem to think that freedom is all about genitalia. Yet they seem to be detached from the facts that accompany our sexual license, from th impact on families, to the statistics of sexual abuse, to the appearance of gonorrhea resistant to the last effective oral antibiotics in North America. Somehow, the license to dip ones wick, or be a dipping pot for a wick, is more important than any other Liberty or consideration.
Of course, we Catholics are responsible for much of the animus, because we are such hypocrites. We divorce at the same rate, cheat at the same rate, etc as everyone else. There are statistics that show that those of us who go to Church weekly don't, but as long as people who do not live as Catholics can call themselves such, and we call them such, the problem will fester. It doesn't help that theCorrupt Campaign for Humanist Deception, excuse me, the "Catholic" Campaign for Human Development still supports still supports groups that further the very things we are trying to combat. Our bishops often say the right thing, even claiming that they will go to jail to protest things, but I don't believe a word of it--they haven't the collective balls to stand up to their own employees.
I can't let this go without a dig at the Religious Orders which have so spectacularly failed the Church within the last generation by defecting from their Charisms and turning their back on Catholicity. In once Catholic Spain religious orders are shrinking away to nothing, and in the link you will see something--or rather, not see something: any habits or markers that mark them out as consecrated, as a visible witness to something other than the spirit of the age. In Catalonia, there was a mass for all of the Novices of all of the Orders there. all nine of them sat on the floor while their dissident, modernist priest celebrated mass cross legged on the floor. Sorry, the hippy thing is over. Heck, even the neo-hippy thing is over.
When it comes to religion in this country, we can't underestimate the hostility that the Regime and it's courts hold for us. When a federal court rules a University "diversity" policy that exludes Christians from protection trumps an Enumerated Constitutional Right, we're screwed. Of course, right now, the self proclaimed "brights" of the media-political complex aren't all that into the Constitution anyway--both the New York Times and MSNBC are ready to be done with it. MSNBC using the same tired, discredited and false "historical" arguments that have been floating around since the 60s.
Of course, History ain't what it used to be, with Shotime running a multi part "documentary" by that famed re-inventor and fabricator of History Oliver Stone.
There is so much to be pissed about, and so much to counter, I don't know which way to rant. All I know is, every little group with an axe to grind is engaged in destroying this nation, our freedom, and my religion. All of them together make up about 50% of the population. Those of us whove had enough make up about 47% of the population. The hell of it is, that the destroyers have most of entertainment and media at their side, and can mystify and confuse the remaining 3%. We're gonna go down. I hope we go down swinging so hard that the fascists and perverts never recover from their victory.

I feel awkward because I don't what to say but want to say something because I really know how you feel. Take care. I offer prayers for you and us all.
