Well, the poll is closed and to my delight, 80% of respondents say they have said prayers or done acts of penance specifically for our republic.
That's more than I expected! Usually when I mention such a thing, some woman--and it's always a woman, usually middle aged, middle class, impeccably groomed and stylishly casual in dress--will pipe up and say we shouldn't play favorites and should do so for everyone in the world, not for our Republic.
I guess this is why our religious liberties are failing, our economy isn't what it used to be, and most of us Catholics are not what we should be. I just wish I had more moral courage and would quote the Catechism where talks about patriotism and ones' duty to ones' country. I think I'll make a point of that.
Pray for our Republic, lest the enemies minions continue to prey upon it.
