I am not going to be putting up posts until a week from Monday. I will be maintaining comments, and probably doing a little refurbishing of the blog. But I am taking a week of non-posting, along with avoiding the news and opinion that inundates us, to sort through my own inner turmoil and ground myself a bit better in prayer and the sacraments.
I'll Be Back!
But in the meantime, please pray for my friend and pledge prayers in the "poll spot" on the side bar for her spiritual bouquet!
And read the word from the Queen of the House--and be sure to comment, if so moved! Plus--if you read the blue italics, you'll find a post about her--it makes her easier to understand.
TRIUMPHALIST--YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT?
TRIUMPHALIST--YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT? I believe that the Catholic Church was founded by Christ, on his Apostles, especially Peter, the first Pope. I believe in the teachings of the Ecumenical councils, I revere the Fathers of the Church, and I am an unapologetic Ultramontane Catholic. If you don't like it, too bad.

And Now, A Word From the Queen of the House:
The piece below was written by the Queen of the House, she showed it to me, and I was impressed and stunned--it opened to my mind a dimension of the pro life and cultural war battle that I hadn't thought of my self. If you are wondering about the Queen of the House, I wrote a post about her, and that will tell you a bit of background that might me of interest. It's on this blog and is at http://sadcatholic.blogspot.com/2010/01/queen-of-house.html (It's dated Jan 29 2010, if you want to just use the archieve.) But read what she has to say, and be amazed that I get to be around such a cool woman who sees so clearly in prayer.
A Message to Those Considering the Smiting Brethren of St. Michael
I have been pondering, on the 'back burner" so to speak, something 'Sadcatholic/Ignorant Redneck" has been speaking to me of on occasion and has written about on his blog. That is on the occurrence of violence against life, and those who speak up in defense of life and against Christians. I have for some time known we are under attack and with very little exception the violence has been directed at us rather than coming from us. But the Government and the FBI are watching us as if we were the violent ones. How wrong, how purposely wrong they are!
That is what I thought...until Today.
Today, (at prayer) I realized how foolish this way of thinking is. Of course we are violent. And dangerous. And bear watching!
No, I'm not off my rocker. Nor am I being sarcastic. Consider this:
Why do you call someone who prays frequently a "Prayer Warrior"?
Why did Paul say to put on the "whole armor of God" and describe the Word of God as a sword? For that matter, so did Jesus--a 2 edged sword separating joint and marrow, soul and spirit.
What is meant in the Revelation of John that the "Beast would make war with the Saints"?
The violence is real. The fighting is spiritual. It is a WAR. A war that is going on all the time. People who look at us praying at an abortion clinic and react with violence are reacting to what the spirits who rule them are seeing. We are in a pitched battle! Those spirits are feeling the blows of the violence we inflict. Yes, violence! Our prayers for those whom they control HIT the spirits squarely! Jesus said to pray for those who persecute you and you would 'heap burning coals upon their heads". He wasn't kidding! He meant it! It is the spirits who feel those burning coals and are tormenting those we are praying for. Those spirits influence those same individuals to see us as they see us--as violent. They are not mistaken.
In prayer we are fighting. We are at war! And we cannot give up the fight! Human souls hang in the balance! It is painful to be fought over, I'm sure, but there is much greater pain in Hell! Forever! We must "Fight the good fight" to bring about the rescue of as many human souls as possible! We MUST pray. We MUST fight this spiritual war. It keeps going on whether we accept it or not. Denying it will not make the war stop. It makes us lose! It makes OTHERS also lose!
So. I confess.
I am not the sweet, peaceful, kind, soft spoken lady I appear to the eye and the ear. I am a warrior! A battle hardened soldier in Christ's Army! I serve his throne! All hail King Jesus! "Lord" is his name! God of War, Lord of Armies! Mighty and Valiant! Worthy of Praise, Allegiance, Honor and Glory!
Join me in fighting the good fight! In keeping the faith! Pray! Pray the Rosary. Pray a litany. Pray the Way of the Cross. Pray in your own words and/or with set prayers! Make your Morning offering every day. Pray, Pray, Pray! Form your consciences carefully to avoid capture by the enemy. Pray for the salvation of souls! In prayer offer your sufferings, discomforts, sorrows, joys, pains, difficulties, and disappointments with Christ's sufferings on the cross. Offer the Eucharist! Read holy Scripture! Learn Holy Scripture! Study the lives of the saints and their writings!
DO NOT BE AFRAID! Christ has already won. We need to set the prisoners free!
So there you have it--words of exhortation from the Queen of the house. Is it any wonder that, having such a woman praying for me, I received the Grace to return to the Faith?

In New Haven, Connecticut a woman is suing the Diocese of Hartford Connecticut. No she isn't the victim of sexual abuse of any sort.
No-this woman alleges that at a Catholic Charismatic Revival healing service, she was prayed over, and "resting in the Spirit". When she began resting in the Spirit, she fell backwards and hit her head. The effects of this, she says, are that she has lost her sense of smell, part of her sense of taste, suffered a hemorrhagic contusion, a concussion and various other problems.
She maintains that the priest in charge of the service didn't follow diocesan guidelines for praying over or blessing people, and didn't provide cushioned surface for them to fall down on.
I'm not sure, but i think she's trying to sue for liturgical abuses, or for a non approved para liturgical service.
It should be interesting to see what effect this has on the Charismatic Community in Hartford.

Quick Notes on the Culture Wars
1--In Bridgeport Connecticut, the uniforms the Cheerleaders wear are causing some controversy. It seems that some people think they are too skimpy to be worn in public. Well, we've all heard this before, haven't we? But there is one difference in this case: The people complaining are the Cheerleaders! They have appeared before the School Board, and said that their uniforms were too skimpy, that they hurt their self esteem. the Cheerleaders also pointed out that the uniforms they are required to wear violate the published standards of the School Board itself. They even asked the board members how they would feel about their daughters having to appear in public dressed so scantily.
2--In Colorado Springs, CO, there is a school ban on display of rosaries. The ban is supposedly an anti gang measure. But it doesn't affect any other Religious symbols. The school board says people arent' complaining about it-in answer to complaints by students. I know that most Anglo-phone Catholics look down on wearing rosaries. however, that is not a universal thing--in other countries they are worn as the simplest way of carrying them. The School Board quotes Alex Alonso as a 'gang expert', who maintains that gangs in the Midwest use the rosary as a symbol of membership. I'm not sure i believe this. I do know that i see people displaying them around here who show no other gang like tendencies. I wonder if this isn't like the story going around in the 80s--and taught to cops--that there were motorcycle gangs that required the murder of a policeman as an entry requirement. (This maintained currency until policemen themselves asked where all the dead bodies or missing cops were.) I'm not convinced this isn't anti Hispanic or anti Catholic sentiment masquerading as a safety issue. Especially as the officials haven't returned any phone calls or queries of whether it just applied to rosaries, or to all crosses. It's also of interest that other schools who did this and were called on it promptly settled out of court.
3--In a related issue, in Dearborn Michigan, a coach was just given an out of court settlement of a complaint that he was fired because he was Christian. The student body of Fordson High School is majority Muslim. The Principal was Imad Fadlallah. Mr.Gerald Marszalek maintains that he was fired by Fadlallah because of his faith, and apparently the School District agrees--they settled out of court. Two other teachers, both of whom have won awards, have suits pending on the grounds that Fadlallah harassed them because they weren't Muslim. Fadlallah has retired.
4--In Canada, a disagreement between a couple and their surrogate host mother is going to hit the court, and it will make law. The couple and the surrogate disagreed on whether the surrogate should have an abortion, as the child she is hosting in her womb is at risk for downs syndrome. The surrogate has refused to get an abortion. This is an area of law that isn't clear in Canada, or the US. I expect the Canadian Courts to do the wrong thing, and rule that the surrogate should have gotten an abortion. The right thing, of course, would be to leave human reproduction up to God, and stop fiddling with it.
5--By now you've probably heard of the UK ad "No Pressure", put out by a global warming group called 10:10, in which people who didn't commit to reducing their carbon footprint were blown up graphically on TV. I saw it. And,it was weird. The group has withdrawn it. But i have to ask, where is the progressive outcry? Can you imagine a conservative activist group that depicted people who oppose it's agenda being blown to bits by teachers, bosses, coaches, etc? It shows the contempt in which some progressives hold those who disagree, and the contempt which these same progressives hold humanity.

Watching Liberty Perish
So, in September it came out that the Obama Administration is preparing legislation to submit to Congress that would greatly expand the National Security Agency's power to monitor the Internet. The excuse is for the War on Terrorism.
I don't believe it. I. Simply. Don't. Believe. It.
Three times already, Obama and his appointees have tried to get control of the Internet. They have been blocked by the courts. And they have been stymied by the users of the Internet. The goal isn't effective tools in the struggle against terrorists and crime. the goal is to be able to control information, and to find out who is being critical of the Administration.
I can't imagine a republican administration getting away with this. The Internet is a bastion of free expression. And governmental control of it is anathema to freedom. But it's also a thorn in the side of the progressives. people keep publishing things they don't want published. People also use the 'Net to--excuse the awkward wording--network. it allows grass roots organization faster and more effective than ever before. And much to the surprise of the progressive consensus, much of that grass roots organization is conservative in nature. more of it, in fact, than supports them.
In other areas as well, I see liberty withering. The State Department, and the Department of Justice, are allowing Latin American nations to join in a lawsuit against the State of Arizona. They have invited foreign powers to participate in the internal Law of our country, in it's formulation and delineation by the Courts. And they are allowing it in a matter with profound constitutional implications--the relation between States and the Federal Government. I can see this as treason. Certainly it's a manifestation of Transnational Progressiveism attempting to abridge the sovereignty of the United States, and the rights of it's people to protection. Whatever happened to "Provide for the Common Defense"?
This is occurring while Texas is getting zero cooperation in investigating the murder of American citizens by lake pirates. A lack of cooperation so profound that the Mexican authorities are apparently not even looking for the body of man gunned down in front of his wife! And while the lack of enforcement and border security on our southern border is so bad that gun fights are spilling across into our territory.
(Looking at that, it kind of makes the Administrations assertion about wanting power over the Internet for security reasons laughable.)
So, I see tendencies that make me think that our Government doesn't want us to keep our liberties, our sovereignty or our integrity.
I don't believe it. I. Simply. Don't. Believe. It.

The Nuns of LCWR need to shut up--period.
The LCWR sisters are mendacious in the extreme. I think it's high time they were silenced. Period.
And I'm sick of hearing how we should be grateful to them for their service to the Church. What service? After the Second Vatican council they simply became contumacious and heretical. The Council advised that religious orders return to their original Charisms. Because, even in the 50s it was clear that the nuns were going off the rails. Instead, the sisters for the most part abandoned their Charisms, and went into Church and Secular politics in a big way.
The result was a classic example of 'by their fruits you shall know them'. First, vocations to the religious life imploded, and the congregations began to contract. As they abandoned the very point of Catholic Education, and began teaching dissent, error and heresy, the Catholic Schools began to fail. Good Catholics couldn't see why they should shell out money to have their children taught, not the faith, but how to leave the faith. As the number of sisters who decided to abandon the class room to become "social workers who don't date", the cost of Catholic schools skyrocketed--and they became a preserve of the more affluent sections of the Church. I know that there was tuition assistance, but I also know that the kids who received it were often treated as second class persons, by their other students, and by the staff and faculty of the schools--I've seen that myself.
Of course, the problem in the us has become so acute that the Vatican has intervened, with an Apostolic Visitation. The response was about what I expected from the sisters, based on my experience: obstructionism, misdirection, 60s style 'activism', and disobedience.
Last year, assisted by the heretics at the NCR, they began a campaign suggesting that the motivation for the visitation wasn't being made clear. Odd--it was made clear. The Vatican was looking into violations of the norms of religious life, support for women's ordination and for dissent from the teachings on sexual morality, especially on homosexuality, contraception and abortion. it wasn't secret at all. Of course there was a certain amount of innuendo concerning 'who was paying' for it. And the oft repeated lie that the LCWR represents 95% of Religious Sisters in the US. (The percentage is actually a little less than 80%, and declining yearly, as the congregations getting vocations are affiliated with the MCSWR and the IRL--which were formed, with Vatican approval, in reaction to the dissent and heresy--not to mention the rampant lesbianism--in the LCWR.)
Nobody seems to be buying the "poor, oppressed innocent sisters" shtick.
It might be because while they are whining about the Visitation, they had a meeting in New Orleans at which Cokie Roberts--Cokie Roberts!--was a keynote speaker. Think about that. As one of their keynote speakers they chose a laywoman, who is on record supporting the practice of partial birth abortion, and many many times for being a hostile critic of the Catholic Church. At this meeting they said the didn't know why they were being visited. And they said the public didn't either.
Bull shit. Excuse my language, but the reasons were out front from jump street, and the Apostolic Visitors also put up a web site so that the public could look for themselves.
On their own web site, they have listed everyone who has said they support them. Big deal. Truth isn't subject to popular vote, nor is it determined by who's the most popular. The fact that the sisters have something to hide is plainly made by their writings suggesting that they treat the visitors as unwelcome guests and not answer their questions.
I will say this--I think the Visitation is at best a formality. i say this because, we have the spectacle of NETWORK literally telling people the Bishops are wrong about pro-life issues. We have congregations of sisters saying it's OK to have active sexual relations with the same sex. And of Course, Joan Chittister has come out in support of Gay marriage. The sisters of the LCWR are working against the Church and it's teachings.
But the Sisters keep telling us it's the Magisterium that is working against them.

Help Me Help My Friend
I have a friend, who I knew in High School. Her name is Marci T.
Marci was one of those people I meet from time to time who show me what a good person is like. We didn't run in the same social set--I was a dope smoking, beer swilling freak, and she was...a very nice person. I looked up to her, and it wasn't lost on me that she always treated me with respect and a certain kindness. A respect i didn't really deverve, to be honest.
Well, Marci is on her second round of Chemo, the first not having worked, and it's a seperate kind of Chemo. Marci has Ovarian Cancer, and the odds, as she puts it, are not good. What i hope you will do, and it won't cost you a dime, is to say a prayer for her, then list in the comm box what prayer or prayers yu have said. I will send her a spiritual boquet with the prayers detailed. I think that would bring a smile to her face. And prayer can heal.
Anyway, say a prayer for Marci, and tell me what to add to the boquet.

The 13th Day
I watched a movie called The 13th Day.
It was amazing.
I'm not going to give you any spoilers, or even tell you what it's about. If you've seen it-no spoilers in the comments.
it was a very, very well made movie. The photography was impressive, with a kind of minimalism and austere richness that is hard to describe. It reminded me of some of the better movies from the 1930s,and in places reminded me of Orson Wells, and in others of Bergman.
The sets were also spare--and all the more effective for that.
It's a work of art, in my opinion. Rent or buy it. you can get it on NetFlicks, as well.

It's a work of art, in my opinion. Rent or buy it. you can get it on NetFlicks, as well.
Some Days, the News is Better Than Others
The Archbishop of St. Paul-Minneapolis refused communion to the members of a student GLBT group that attended Mass wearing their rainbow badges.
This occurred at St. John University. The GLBT students were, according to the St. Cloud Times, hurt, and felt disrespected. Also, they couldn't figure out why there were safety officers present. Yeah, right. But the Archbishop stood to his duty, and shame on priests who've been giving these people communion while wearing their rainbow badges & buttons.
You don't show up to a Pontifical Mass, wearing your rainbow buttons & badges, with a photographer and the student newspaper editor, without hoping to make a scene. Their stated purpose--to find out why the Archbishop doesn't like them--is bogus. one doesn't have long conversations with the Celebrant at Mass. They went there hoping to either cow him into giving them communion, or to provoke an incident.
His Excellency stuck to his duty, and didn't make a big deal out of it. He wins.

And Today's Stupid Stunt Award Goes Too...
...The Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace, (known as D&P). This group is essentially the Canadian equivalent of CCHD, except a little worse. Bishops in Africa and Asia and Latin America have formally asked, in writing, that they stop funding pro gay and pro abortion groups in their diocese.
Well, Catholics in Canada are as put out as we here in the US, and have been pressing for disclosure of who gets the money, where. And the D&P hasn't been forthcoming. So, the Catholics have decided to use Canadian Law--it seems that charities in Canada have to say where the money goes, in a public record, on request, or show in court why they shouldn't.
So, after formal requests, then legal briefs, no body knows what's going on--it seems that D&P has decided to fight in court to keep Catholics from knowing how they spend Catholic money. Remember, this is an arm of the Catholic Bishops in Canada. Looks bad, very bad. Especially when the Bishops have spoken about being more transparent, after their version of the sex scandals.
What's funny is this: D&P have a history of calling for transparency and accountability.
I've been watching this for a year, and they are far, far behind us in reforming their outreach--and we've barely scratched the surface.

Some Things That Are Nice to Pass On
The Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) has 376 members, (223 priests, 8 deacons 145 seminarians and postulants. They are represented in four continents, 16 countries and 113 dioceses. They ordain an average of 12 priests per year, and they were founded in 1988. they have an average age of 36. If you are not familiar with these guys, they function exclusively in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, and have two parishes in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.
Across the board, we have seen in the US an increase in vocations for four straight years. Hmmm--I guess having Das Panzerkardinal for a Pope has done even more for vocations and renewal than John Paul II did--and JP II did a lot--inspiring new reform orders all over the place! Vocations Directors are even crediting Benedict's moves toward correction of clerical and religious life, and his insistence that we make amends for the debacle. (My personal take is this-good men and women are no longer frightened by what they encounter in the vocations process and what they see in seminaries and religious houses. Read Farewell Good Men!)
The Archdiocese of Omaha has announced that the leader of the public association of the faithful The Intercessors of the Lamb has stepped down. This group has been controversial for a while. They were first approved as a private association of the faithful, then became approved as a public association. They were petitioning to be erected a religious community of Diocesan Right. The Archbishop of Omaha sent a visitor to them, and disapproved the erection. The leader of the group, agreed to step down and a trustee has been named for the group. This is an entirely good thing. There are good people involved, and if the group can be set on the right path, they can be a very great blessing to the Church. The fact that Archbishop Lucas has acted to correct, rather than disband the group tells me that 1--he is involved in the oversight of the groups in his Archdiocese and 2--that this young community, even though currently troubled, will receive good formation. Lets pray for a success here.
In Fort Wayne, In, there is a group of fellows called the Franciscan Brothers Minor. Not too unlike the CFRs, the FFMs are resorting to a more traditional living out of the Capuchin Charism, and devoting themselves to evangelism. Their rules are pretty neat--lots of emphasis on liturgical prayer, adoration and reflection, and a commitment to poverty that's wonderful to behold--these guys don't even store up food they get donations, and if they get more than they need for their immediate use, they give it to the hungry. They also have as their first rules that they are loyal to the Holy Father and the Magisterium. Some of the more "progressive" elements in the church don't like them--I've even read that they shouldn't take alms, because those should be for the poor. 9Who ever said that doesn't realize that all the Franciscans are mendicants--the Capuchins, the OFMs and the Conventuals just don't look like it.) Any way, these guys give me hope. There are twelve of them right now. I will ask Our Lady to send them more.
And, an Episcopal Parish in Maryland has had a unanimous vote by it's vestry to leave the Episcopal Church and unite with the Catholic Church. The whole congregation will vote on the issue later this month. mount Calvary Episcopal Church has for 150 years been a bastion of Anglo-Catholicism and the ideals of the Oxford Movement. Let's pray for them as well.

The Big Lie and the Father of Lies
This just doesn't go away: The FBI, under the promoting of the Obama Administration, targeting pro life activities as "potential terrorists". I am not sure exactly what's occurring, and that is disturbing to me. And I have to admit, for a person of my generation, it's an easy sell. We remember finding out that j. Edgar Hoover's FBI targeted Civil Rights Groups in the 50s and 60s, to the point of engaging in attempts at entrapment. So the idea that an ideological faction in the administration could or would attempt to use the FBI to interfere with free speech isn't out of reach for us.
The idea gets a little more believable with the documents used in the "training program" being made public. It's an 84 page thing titled Resource Guide: Violence Against Reproductive Health Care Workers". it's a very disturbing document, in as much as it lists as " violence" free speech activities that the courts have already ruled to be protected activities in the public forum!
This document also lists as "right wing extremists groups like Priests for Life, Concerned Women for America and 40 Days for Life. This is part and parcel of the progressive agenda of lies against those who wish to restrict abortion--a demographic that holds around 60% of Americans. It's part and parcel of the Obama administrations attempts to smear pro lifers as evil, violent thugs. The Department of Homeland Security last year listed right to life activists as "right wing extremists", and in their Domestic Extremism Lexicon they characterized pro lifers as violent. And let's not forget the poor fellow who was pulled over last year and accused of making threats against the president because he had pro life sign on his car. The guidelines in these documents list as violent such things as boycotts of abortion providers, signs, picketing, "the ability to publish almost anything on the internet' and free speech lawsuits.
Free speech lawsuits? So exercising ones constitutional right to redress of grievance is an act of violence, according to this administration? If this doesn't frighten you, if this doesn't make you wonder if we haven't already lost the essential Liberty of a free republic, perhaps you should rethink some things. And remember too, that the Patriot Act is not only still in effect, it was extended in scope by our current Congress--that's frightening as well.
So we see the impact of lies. First, when the original Patriot act was passed, it gave rise to much dissent on the part of progressives. When it was renewed and expanded by a progressive Congress, not much was said. progressives do not mind limiting liberty, as long as they perceive themselves as holding the power over the apparatus ("Let's hear it for the power!"--Nancy Pelosi upon becoming Speaker of the House).
On September the 4th of this year I put up a post about Abortion Violence. In it I pointed out that there are at least 8,519 documented cases of actual violence against pro lifers in the US, and that that total includes at least 269 homicides (usually for resisting abortions), 250 rapes and 1658other sexual offenses. This is the second lie, and one that the facts should easily dispel, but liberals and progressives will not examine: it's not pro lifers who are prone to violence, it's pro abortion people.
From professors who tear down other peoples lawful displays, to the guy that the swat tea had to come and disarm because he threatened to shoot one of the sidewalk vigil people in the head. Or you can look at what happened in Charleston SC Saturday: Gary Boyle, an abortionist, puled in to the Charleston Women's Medical Center, and pulled a loaded gun. he then pointed it at the pro lifers on the public sidewalk. He was arrested, and then released on bail. Or maybe a look at Scotia, NY, where Alexie S.Ramey paid $500 bucks and a washing machine to have someone kill his ex-girlfriends unborn child in utero. The target was the child, but he didn't care if she got killed in the process--as long as he didn't have to support a kid. she wouldn't get an abortion. In fact the distressing truth is that the most likely way for a pregnant woman to die in this country is through homicide--CDC identifies those most at risk of homicide as under 20, black, with late or no prenatal care. The problem is so bad that there is a 2003 Federal law that classifies unborn children as separate victims in crimes against the mother in federal jurisdiction. it was prompted by an upsurge in violence against pregnant women when the child isn't wanted by others.
And there is a huge amount of violence against babies, from the upswing in newborns found discarded to murder of toddlers by parents and those who care for them. Often at the hands of "boyfriends" who either don't want the competition for them, or don't want to pay for them. Even people that are thought of as respectable are OK with this in some form or other, just look at British broadcaster Virginia Ironside, who said she would be the first to put a pillow over a "suffering child" and smother it if she were it's mother. pro abortion people seem to be OK with various levels of violence against women and children.
Above I mentioned constitutional rights as being classified as violent. Well, what about violations of constitutional rights? In California, in the town of Nipomo, pro life advocates were detained for demonstrating on a public sidewalk. The detention was prompted by staff and faculty of a High School. At the time of the detention, an attorney called police officials, who admitted that the demonstrators had a right to demonstrate there. So, they repeated the demonstration at another day, and bingo! the deputies detained them again. This time the attorney was there, and was able to convince the deputies that they were in fact violating the rights of the pro lifers (and I have to wonder if the specter of legal action against the deputies wasn't raised, as their supervisor had said the activity was within the rights of the demonstrators!).
In Chicago and elsewhere, pro lifers have been arrested under misapplied or nonexistent ordinances. And the FBI now considers lawsuits in redress of these violations of civil rights and free speech to be acts of pro life violence.
Here we have the technique of the Big Lie--Paint pro life sentiment as "extremist", even though 60% of Americans fit that description to some degree. Then pant them as violent, even though the statistics prove the opposite. It's a technique of fascism and despotic governance. It's the technique used by every dictatorship in the 20th century, and our government seems to be playing along with it.
It's The Big Lie, and we know who the father of lies is. I can't figure any other way it continues to work.

Thinking about this blog
I have got to get a handle on the things that attract my attention There are so many things happening in the world, and I can only think and write about a few of them. it seems like I don't want to miss anything important, but unfortunately there are so many important things...
So, along with Church related current events, and my own puerile reflections of spirituality and politics, what sort of things would You like me to write about. (And, no! I refuse to write about my sordid past in detail--you wouldn't believe it anyway.)
Put your suggestions into the comm box, and pray for my conversion.

If you don't...
I'm getting a bit fatigued by the things I see and read in the press. Not just the Mainstream Media, but in the Catholic an other Christian press as well. It seems like this is what everybody is saying:
If you don't Agree With Me, you're a heretic, evil, stupid, misinformed, sexually obsessed or under demonic influence.
If you support/don't support my version of current events you're deluded, stupid, or under demonic influence.
If you don't support the same political solutions I do you're a heretic, evil stupid, selfish, fearful or under demonic influence.
If you aren't on the same sheet of music as me about the environment, you're a patsy for big business, own a big business, don't understand the science, cowardly, a tool of liberals, a tree hugging dirt worshipper or under demonic influence.
It just goes on and on. If you think the government is too big, or too small, well, you've been subjected to poor catechesis, turned your back on the gospel, or under demonic influence.
If you support illegal immigrants or oppose illegal immigrants you're a racist, a commie, a fascist or under demonic influence.
In short, we have lost the ability to disagree, to respect one another internal forum and to discuss. I suppose we have also lost the humility to subject our own judgments to the Deposit of the Faith, and many of those charged with teaching us cannot subject their own social and political ideas to this discipline either.
We can't seem to respect our superiors in the Church, and we are always at each others throats. That's the hardest thing a bout being a Catholic for me--It's like we can't avoid choosing sides, and each side seems to have claimed the Faith for their own side. It's actually frightening.
You know what I think is the most obviously Demonic thing about all of this? The situation itself. No way things could get this hateful, confused and frightening without the Father of Lies taking into the pot with a very long handled spoon.
And, I'm probably as much part of the problem as anyone. I try always to see the word through the lens of the Faith, but in the current situation, how can I know if I am? Charity is the rule, of course. But when several sides all tell me that the Charitable thing to do is X,Y or Z, and they are all mutually exclusive--then I'm left with my own Judgment, my own understanding or the faith, and only my hope that I'll do the right thing.

Us & Nat'l Geographic
Well, our family is a lot like National Geographic. We have lots of issues, it seems a lot like the same thing over and over, but remains interesting.
