Bishop Kieran Conry is the man responsible for the task of Evangelizing in England and Wales. That is to say, under the auspices of their national council of bishops. He is very critical of His Holiness' decision to create an office that will be responisble for re evangelizing Europe.
He also says that he doesn't think that secularization has anything to do with the decline of the Church in Europe. He simply thinks that the church is no longer "relevant" (his word) to Europeans. I guess he doesn't realize that this is Secularization.
He is also critical of the idea that the teachings of our faith should be presented as authoritative. Or that Authority should be upheld or exercised.
In short, he is saying that the new office won't be relativist, or modernist.
Apparently, he believes that the way to revitalize the Church in Europe is to continue the methods and direction that have, since the early 1950s, damaged it so severely. He is either a complete imbecile, which I find unlikely, or he really does want to destroy the Catholic Church and replace it with some sort of group that does something or other, but doesn't really teach us to improve and be open to the Lord, only to accept and be open to people.
Perhaps he could be deposed, or better yet, assigned to the Vatican, pursuing the causes of Medieval people whose cause for sainthood has been languishing since 1271, or something.
