TRIUMPHALIST--YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT?

TRIUMPHALIST--YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT? I believe that the Catholic Church was founded by Christ, on his Apostles, especially Peter, the first Pope. I believe in the teachings of the Ecumenical councils, I revere the Fathers of the Church, and I am an unapologetic Ultramontane Catholic. If you don't like it, too bad.

Some Quick Stuff

Arrested:  Dale McAlpine, 42, is a Baptist Preacher.  he was arrested for being overheard by a Gay Police Community Support Officer (is that the thought police?) overheard him listing several biblical sins to someone, including drunkenness, blasphemy, and same sex relationships.

Mr McAlpine was charged under The Public Order Act, designed to curb football hooligans.  Christians have been expressing fears for some time that this act is being used to silence preachers.

(This was reported in the Telegraph.)

Congress tries to steal freedom again:  Henry Waxman (D-CA) has inserted language into the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act to allow the Federal Trade Commission [HR4173] (WTF??? not the FDA? ) to write regulations with the force of law about nutritional supplement companies.  The FTC has been trying to gain regulatory powers over these companies for some time.  (Logic suggests that the people to be regulating this is the FDA!)  So, by placing a bit of verbage into a popular law, and hoping the people don't notice, he wishes to give a bunch of desk sitting pencil pushers more power over a portion of the economy that they don't need, don't deserve and have already been told to back off from repeatedly.

I the same bill, provisions exist to give the FTC powers over the Internet (an area that is privatly owned, so the FCC has failed to gain control of it, and which is already coverred by existing fraud laws, etc.)  This efforst is also sponsored by Dems.

If we need this "reform" law so badly, why are they trying to clutter it up with things that have nothing to do with the Wall Street meltdown?  Could it be just another power grab by the party whose leader said "We have to get beyond Constitutional controls" on government power?

I'm so sick of Left Wing Violence Against Conservatives:  In San Francisco, a group demonstrating in support of Arizona's Immigration Law (not really an immigration law, not really new---it simply requires cops to do what they are supposed to do in the first place, and doesn't authorize random stops and requests for papers!) were followed, punched, kicked, beaten and insulted. Arrests were made, and those arrested will be charge with assault and robbery.

Mean while in the Downtown Santa Cruz the AP is reporting that an unsanctioned anti-Arizona march , (with out permits) turned in to a spasm of vandalism, marchers in the downtown area began to smash windows ans spray paint businesses.  Great way to win my support.
